A portable grand piano for all genres

For pianists interested not only in classical, but also jazz, rock or funk, the convenience of being able to play in a practice room but also mobility, a KORG D1 is tailor-made. A carefully fine-tuned playing feel is essential in any case, and despite its compact size, the D1 delivers both in sound and feel.

The keys are crucial

The D1 is focused on delivering the ultimate in sleek, compact design. But it is especially on its high-quality RH3 keybed that the D1 delivers. The weighting is graduated like on an acoustic grand piano, and the balance of the keys is worthy of a concert grand piano. Of course, you won't get anywhere without a good selection of sounds, and with 30 specially selected ones, this instrument covers most scenarios, whether it is for daily practice at home or performance.

A compact package solution you can take anywhere

The chassis construction is based on a new design that gives the body a slim depth of only approximately 26 cm. Although the D1 has a professional weighted RH3 keybed, it is very mobile and can be taken anywhere, e.g. in the dedicated SC-D1 bag (sold separately). The stylish ST-SV1 stand (sold separately) completes a great setup on stage, in the room, or in the living room.

30 high-quality sounds

The D1 contains a total of 30 expressive sounds, which include not only various acoustic piano sounds for genres such as classical, jazz and pop, but also electric piano, organ and clavi sounds that can be used for many purposes, and there is even space for sounds such as vibraphone, acoustic guitar and strings.

Authentic piano sounds

Good keys aren't enough. To achieve a playing feel that's close to an acoustic piano, the D1's piano sounds switch between four sample layers depending on the dynamics of your playing. From delicate piano to dynamic fortissimo, the sound responds realistically to your playing. And with a wide selection of sample sets, you can always find a piano sound that best suits the material. The concert piano, grand piano, and jazz piano sounds reproduce damper resonance, realistically simulating the spacious resonance produced by the sympathetic vibration of the strings when you hold down the damper pedal on an acoustic piano. The D1 also simulates the sound of lifting your finger off the key and the way your playing technique affects the string resonance, responding to staccato or legato.

Serious electric piano sounds, etc.

The electric piano sounds reproduce not only the tonal differences in response to your playing, but also the mechanical noise of the keys, which is an important part of the signature sound of electric pianos. Six variations are built in, covering sounds often used in popular music from the 60s and 70s, and which have also found new life in modern genres. You'll also find six different organ sounds, ranging from rock and jazz to solemn pipe organs.

Convenient features

The metronome can be turned on/off with a dedicated button. Layer Mode lets you layer two sounds on top of each other by simply pressing two sound buttons simultaneously. Combine strings or vibraphone with the piano sound, for example. The touch control function lets you choose from five settings (light, standard, heavy, stable, firm) so you can customize how the sound responds to your playing dynamics. Three high-quality effects are also built in: Brilliance, Reverb, and Chorus. The optimal effect for each internal sound is already set, so you can simply select a sound and focus on playing it with the best possible tone.

Standard-size LINE OUT jacks and MIDI IN/OUT

The D1 is equipped with the external connection jacks you need on stage or for recording. The standard-sized LINE OUT jacks can be connected directly to powered speakers or recording equipment. MIDI IN/OUT jacks are also provided, so you can connect via a MIDI interface to your computer and use the D1 as a MIDI keyboard or piano sound module.

Music stand and damper pedal

The music stand can be removed and attached as needed, and a compact-sized damper pedal is also included, again to make transport and set-up and take-down as simple as possible.
