  • 21-tone Kalimba
  • Easy and fun to play
  • Great for both children and adults
  • Very pleasant and soothing sound
  • Mahogany wood and mineral steel
  • Vibrato holes on the back

A Kalimba is also known as a Thumb Piano or Lamellophone. It consists of a resonance box, in this case made of mahogany wood, to which are attached 21 slats of mineral steel and of varying lengths. These slats act as keys.

The kalimba is played by pressing down on the slats with your thumbs or fingernails and releasing them quickly. This causes the slats to vibrate and produce notes of different heights, depending on the length of the slat. On the back of the kalimba there are two holes that can be used for vibrato effects by covering them with your fingers and releasing them repeatedly.

The kalimba originated in Africa and has been described and used for centuries in various African cultures. However, it has also become very popular in the rest of the world in recent times - both as a folk instrument, but also in modern music production.

It is characterized by having a soft and soothing sound and is often considered a relaxing and therapeutic instrument to play and listen to. For many people, it has a decidedly stress-relieving effect and is an excellent tool for being mindful and letting go of everyday worries. It is also easy to use, as it is both simple to play and also light and comfortable to sit with. Even people who do not otherwise play music will quickly enjoy the kalimba.
Since it doesn't play that loud, it can easily be part of most people's evenings in front of the TV, on the terrace or down behind the warehouse during lunch break, and you'll love being able to hear the soft "tingling" from inside the children's room.
The Kalimba is ready to play straight out of the box, as it requires no preparation. And the only maintenance a Kalimba needs is the occasional tuning. For that purpose, you need a tuner, and if you don't have one, you can download a tuner app to your mobile phone, which is in most cases completely free.

This Kalimba comes with a tuning hammer, which you use to hit the slats either forward or backward when tuning it. This process is described in the included guide (in English), which also includes some easy melodies you can start practicing.

There is also a fabric bag to store the kalimba in and two thumb pads that you can wear when playing if you think it's more comfortable.
